A very dear stealth fighter

Pentagon contracted for five billion dollars from Lockheed Martin Corporation for the production of 60 F-22 Raptor.

Machines will be delivered in the years 2009-11, and 20 aircraft annually. The additional contracts for the supply of aircraft spare parts cost more than seven billion dollars.

The new order will bring the total number of F-22 in the Air Force prior to a ceiling of 183 aircraft.

Currently in the United States Air Force has about 100 fighters F-22. Planes of this type are only located in a strictly fifth-generation fighter aircraft performed using technologies c nizheniya radar visibility. They are the most expensive aircraft of the Air Force. The total cost of one F-22, taking into account the costs incurred prior to the research work is nearing 340 million dollars.
